【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversaprocedurefortherapiddeterminationofphenalenesandphenalenonesinmiddledistillatefuels,includingmarine,automotive,heating,andgasturbinefuelsuchasthosespecifiedinSpecificationsD396,D975,D2069,andD2880.Phenalenesandphenalenonesaffectthepotentialinstabilityoffuels,leadingtofueldegradationproductsduringstorage,whichmaycauseperformanceproblems.Thistestmethodisapplicabletobothdyedandundyedfuelsatallpointsinthedistributionchainfromrefinerytoend-user.Itisnotapplicabletofuelscontainingresidualoil.Theportableapparatusallowsthewholetesttobeconductedonsiteorinalaboratoryanddoesnotrequirethetestsampletobeheated.Thistestmethodissuitablefortestingsampleswitharelativeabsorbanceofupto5.00absorbanceunits(AU).Note1-Theprecisionofthetestmethodhasbeenestablishedonrelativeabsorbanceupto1.00AU.Forrelativeabsorbanceabove1.00AUtheprecisionmaynotapply.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
