【摘要】:Thisguidedescribesthetypesofinformationthatareindispensableforuniquelyidentifyingametaloralloyinacomputerizeddatabase.Thepurposeistofacilitatestandardizedstorageandretrievaloftheinformationwithacomputer,andallowmeaningfulcomparisonofdatafromdifferentsources.Manynumberingsystemsformetalsandalloyshavebeendevelopedwhicharebasedontheirchemicalcompositions.Separatesystemshavealsoevolvedtodescribethethermomechanicalconditionofmetalsandalloysinordertonarrowtheirdescription.Itistheseparationintologicaldataelementsfromthesecomplex,historicallysignificant,andoverlappingsystemsofidentificationthatisthechallengeintheidentificationofmetalsandalloyswithincomputerizeddatabases.Thisguideisintendedtoprovideacommonstartingpointfordesignersandbuildersofmaterialspropertydatabases.Thisguidegenerallyidentifiesthecontentsofthedatabaseintermsofdataelements,butdoesnotrecommendanyparticularlogicalorphysicaldatabasedesign.Adatabasebuilderhasconsiderableflexibilityindesigningadatabaseschema,anditisintendedthatthisguidesupportthatflexibility.Itisrecognizedthatmaterialpropertydatabaseswillbedesignedfordifferentlevelsofmaterialinformationandfordifferentpurposes.Forexample,adatabasedevelopedbyanindustrytradegroupmightonlyidentifytypicalpropertiesgenerallyrepresentativeofthoseforaparticularmetaloralloy,andnotactualvaluesmeasuredonaspecificsample.Ontheotherhand,abusinessmightdesiretomanagedataonspecificlotsitprocures,orevenpropertiesofaspecificpieceorsamplefromalot.Consequently,someofthedataelementsidentifiedinthisguidemightnotbeapplicableineverydatabaseinstance.Theextentofmaterialidentificationimplementedinaparticulardatabasedependsonitsspecificpurpose.Asingleorganizationmayincludesubstantialdetailinitsdatabase.Lessdetailmaybeincludedinacommondatabaseusedbyseveralorganizationsbecauseofcommercialandotherconsiderations.Sincemetalsandalloysarediverseandthetechnologiesarealwayschanging,recommendationsshouldnotberegardedasexclusiveofadditionaldataelementsformaterialidentification.Therecommendeddataelementsshouldbeexpandedifadditionaldetailedinformationwhichservestoidentifymaterialsistoberecorded.Anumberofdataelementsareconsideredessentialtoanydatabaseandneedtoexistinthedatabase.Dataelementsareconsideredessentialiftheyarerequiredforuserstohavesufficientinformationtointerpretthedataandbeconfidentoftheirabilitytocomparesetsofdataformaterialsfromdifferentsources.Failuretocompleteanessentialdataelementmayrendertherecordunusableinadatabaseorindataexchange.Essentialreferstothequalityorcompletenessofrecordeddata,anddoesnotnecessarilyhavedirectmeaningrelativetodatabasestructure.Insomecases,theidentifieddataelementmightbeaccommodatedwithinaparticulardatabasewithoutexplicitlyincludingafieldjustfortheessentialdataelement.Additionally,adatabaseschemamayrequireadditionaldatafieldstobenotnulltomaintaindatarecordintegrityortoimplementamandatorydatarelationship.Theseadditionalfieldsarebeyondthescopeofthisguide.Finally,itisalsonotedthatadataelementidentifiedasessentialinthisguidemightnotberelevantforadatabasecreatedforaspecificapplicationoflimitedscope.Thisguidepresentsalistingofthedataelementsanddoesnotintendtodefineanysingleorganizationofthedataelementstobeusedineitheralogicalorphysicalmodelforthedatabase.Thedataelementlistsaredividedbygroupheadingsfordiscussionpurposesonly.Thegroupheadingsarenotintendedtoidentifynormalizationof......
